Although I have never seen the above work in person...it has stuck with me since I first was exposed to this image. I seen many works of Rauchenburg's but sadly not this one...yet. If this work has helped to form my understanding of my own practice without ever actually physically existing in my space, what does it really look like in my head?
And what exactly am I being informed by? What would be different if I saw it in person? This has been an experience I have had with other works that my a priori understanding did not match up with reality. Sometimes for good, Sometimes for the bad. The image below is the very beginning of my Odalisk minus work....we'll see where I end up.

Note; minus text.
I received a note written on two sides of a business envelope. On each side I traced around the perimeter of the text and then cut around the edges. Finally I opened the form to discover this composition.

Election Results; New York Times minus all information.
This composition resulted from the blacking out of all text and removal of images. If there was text it was blackened out until no more penetration was possible.

FLOWERS FOR CHANCE; A collaborative site specific installation between Nickolus Meisel and Chance the dog. (He is my neighbor)
So as the snow has melted and the layers of Chance's efforts have revealed themselves. As I was washing dishes yesterday I was inspired to give chance a gift of my own. I sincerely hope he likes it and finds it as beautiful as I do. Oh how those flags snap in the wind! Please Chance. Think of them as flowers.

Wandering
Recent foray into the minus project. Each color represents one session of drawing. Each color is determined based on the previous color typed into Google image search with the word Rothko. I use the third paintings secondary color. I suspect these will evolve through numerous runs through the pages adjusting and tweaking rules to see what abstractions may unfold. This work is being created in Alan Watts "The Way of Zen".
