Poetically this work is my reflection on the river as a metaphor for life and our journey through it. Much of the locus of this resides in the death of my Grandfather. This is a man in whom I ways saw as a supreme role model. A person who had been softened like a stone in a river. I have thought often of his 83 year passage and the multiplicity if minute and grandiose moments he had to mourn or let go of through his life. We all face these rough edges and we mourn on varying levels. In order to pick up something one must have empty hands. All too often this requires we put something down or let something go. In questioning the identity of objects, spaces and self I find that "farewells" are in constant flow. Within these moments I am able to sift, find and reflect upon the minutia of life... furthering my understanding of my own journey and what it has to offer if I am open to receiving it.
